Beginning this fall, Interfaith Partners for the Chesapeake (IPC) and the Anne Arundel Watershed Stewards Academy (WSA) will offer a Faithful Green Leaders Training. This free training includes three in-person sessions:

Saturday, November 9, 2019: Leadership Development Workshop with IPC

Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 Central Ave, Davidsonville, MD 21035 from 10 am - 4:30 pm

At this workshop hosted by IPC, you will learn how to:

  • Establish and grow a Green Team at your congregation

  • Develop exciting environmental education programs to engage your congregation

  • Develop an action plan for your Green Team

  • Build your grant writing skills

  • Enhance your communication skills to help spread the word

Saturday, January 11, 2020: Environmental Stewardship Workshop with WSA

Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 Central Ave, Davidsonville, MD 21035 from 9 am - 4 pm

At this workshop hosted by WSA, you will take a stormwater tour of Anne Arundel County, and see restoration projects that are helping to make a difference.  You will learn

  • The major sources of pollution that are affecting the health of the Chesapeake Bay

  • The rainscaping practices that help slow down and treat polluted water

  • How to select the best rainscaping practice for a congregational or residential property

  • The pollution-reducing behaviors all of us can adopt to keep our waterways clean

  • How to select the best “Habits that Help” when you’re encouraging your congregation to adopt a behavior that reduces pollution

Thursday, February 13, 2020: Coordinating Action Workshop with ipc and WSA

Location TBD; 6:30 - 8:30 pm

At this workshop facilitated by IPC and WSA, you will coordinate with your team members to establish your congregation’s action goals for 2020 and beyond.

In addition to these three sessions, monthly webinars will complement the workshops and expand on the skills learned.

Eligible Participants

  • A group of 3-5 members of any congregation based in Anne Arundel County.

  • The group members are expected to attend the three sessions listed above, as well as monthly webinars.  

Why should your congregation participate?

  • It’s free, it’s fun, and it will help you lead your congregation to take meaningful action!

  • Learn and network with other congregational Green Teams.

  • Small grants are available to Faithful Green Leaders for congregational projects.
