WSA's Impact Fund
The Watershed Stewards Academy is raising funds for two important initiatives, RiverWise Congregations and Steward Projects.
With your support we can empower more congregations and provide critical support to Master Watershed Stewards as they pursue projects large and small, engaging communities across Anne Arundel County.
Through our RiverWise Congregation Program, thousands of Anne Arundel County residents, many of whom are not traditionally engaged in watershed restoration efforts, are learning how to be responsible caretakers of our natural world. Your donation to our Impact Fund will allow us to reach more communities like churches, mosques and synagogues. With each donation, we get closer to our vision of actively engaging every community in the county to ensure clean waters.
WSA has certified 30 Master Watershed Stewards representing 24 congregations from around the county. These Master Watershed Stewards, along with 69 Congregational Stewards, have rallied together their houses of worship to plant 27,054 native plants making up 174 new projects.
Since 2009, WSA has trained over 200 Master Watershed Stewards, representing over 100 communities around Anne Arundel County. Together, these leaders have installed over 2,300 projects, from rain barrels to stream restoration. With each project, communities are transformed and neighbors are inspired to take action. Your contribution to our Impact Fund will allow Stewards to install more projects, furthering our mission to develop citizen leaders to promote community change for clean water.
Since 2009, Stewards:
- Planted over 97,600 trees, shrubs, and native plants
- Volunteered over 30,000 hours
- Installed over 2,300 projects from rain barrels to stream restoration
- Reached over 134,000 citizens across Anne Arundel County
