The ANN-ual Day of Maintenance

Each year, WSA celebrates The ANN-ual Day of Maintenance to honor the legacy of Class 1 Watershed Steward, Ann Jackson. You can read all about Ann, her impact, her dedication to project maintenance and more here. This event is held each year in April.

Saturday, April 12, 2025

Join us as we honor Ann Jackson's legacy by working on a project at a school in Annapolis, MD.

The Chesapeake Ecology Center Native Plant Demonstration Gardens & Groves project started in 2003. It was designed and implemented under the leadership of Zora Lathan, founder of the Chesapeake Ecology Center (CEC). The project was installed with significant involvement from students, local environmental organizations including WSA, and community members. Ann loved maintenance and children, making this project an especially meaningful choice.

After a morning of maintenance, we'll gather on the property for lunch and togetherness.

Tenative Agenda:

Albert Adams Academy (245 Clay St, Annapolis, MD 21401) for a quick demonstration of maintenance and to site and get your hands dirty! You can expect to participate in: invasive removal, weeding, collecting fallen branches, and other general maintenance tasks. Each task will have a captain who knows what they are doing, so no worries if you are new to this!
