Please join us to honor Liana Vitali as she receives the Jan Hollmann Environmental Education Award. This prestigious award is given to honor educators who have made a notable achievement in forwarding environmental education and stewardship.
Liana Vitali is a Naturalist & Education Coordinator at Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary. Ms. Vitali was nominated by Tanya Marushak who described Ms. Vitali as a tireless educator who works to maximize the number of students reached through a variety of educational programs with schools in Prince George’s and Anne Arundel Counties. Ms. Vitali helps schools with financial challenges apply for scholarship opportunities available through Friends of Jug Bay. She has also developed summer camp and internship opportunities for students that allow for a more in-depth exposure to local environmental issues and provides workshops for teachers and volunteers.
The Jan Hollmann Environmental Education Award was established in 1994 by people who worked with Jan in preserving the environment. The award provides recognition to an individual or organization that has been especially effective in achieving environmental education in Anne Arundel County.
