Stormwater Success
Ace Your County Stormwater Inspection!
Since 2009, new developments are required to manage their stormwater by using Best Management Practices (BMPs). BMPs are required to be maintained by the property owner and are inspected every three years by Anne Arundel County inspectors. Older communities have stormwater ponds. Oftentimes, residents and HOAs leaders do not understand the maintenance requirements and are failing these inspections which can lead to significant financial penalties.
WSA is partnering with Anne Arundel County to educate communities on environmental design and how to navigate the inspection process.
Stormwater success will BE offered as part of the Anne arundel county’s community association summit on may 10, 2025.
Admission is free, but registration is required prior to Summit.

Stormwater Success 201 (Summit’s Session III)
In-person Summit session | May 10 | 2:35pm
Presented by Steve Miller, Growth Action Network of Anne Arundel County, William Bower, PE, PLS, ATWELL, LLC, and Brad Burnham, Inspections & Permits
There are over 20,000 stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs) owned by HOAs, Condo Associations, businesses, and individual property owners in Anne Arundel County, all subject to mandatory triennial inspections. This Watershed Stewards Academy (WSA)-sponsored workshop brings together three experts—an HOA president, a professional engineer, and a County inspector—to provide an overview and guide you through establishing an effective maintenance strategy for your community stormwater infrastructure associated with Environmental Site Design (ESD), including rain gardens, bio-swales, and infiltration areas.
Stormwater Success Field Tour
More information will be scheduled following the Summit.
This self driven tour will show participants a variety of stormwater facilities, including retention and detention ponds and a community with Environmental Site Design. Participants will see well and poorly maintained practices and discuss the inspection process with County Inspectors.
