What is groves of gratitudes?

Thanks to our RePlant partners, WSA’s Groves of Gratitude program provides Anne Arundel County and City of Annapolis residents with single native trees and pre-designed native tree bundles (groves) to plant on their properties for a suggested donation.

Planting trees through Groves of Gratitude provides you and your property with curated benefits such as increasing pollinator habitat, screening from roads or neighbors, shading for more efficient energy usage, and/or providing a sustainable food source.

And each year, WSA partners with a local nonprofit who will receive 50% of the Groves of Gratitude’s proceeds. This year’s partner is 2-CM Dreams! Learn more about them below.

Meet our 2026 Community Partner: 2-CM Dreams

This year, 2-CM Dreams will receive 50% of the proceeds from every Groves of Gratitude purchase!

2-CM Dreams creates opportunities for underserved youth, especially girls, to build confidence, curiosity, courage, and real-world skills through experiences in swimming, sailing, STEAM, skilled trades, and career exploration. Their work is rooted in a simple belief: every child deserves the opportunity to discover what they are capable of becoming.

What to Know before You Order:

Ordering Your Trees:

• There will be two order forms for the 2026 season, one for Anne Arundel County residents and another form for City of Annapolis residents. Only City of Annapolis residents (who list a City of Annapolis address at time of ordering) will be permitted to order from the City of Annapolis order form.

• Orders must be picked up during the designated pick up times.

  • Anne Arundel County pick ups will take place on November 9th, 11th, & 12th, from 4pm - 6:30pm at the Nonprofit Center in Crownsville, MD.

  • City of Annapolis pick ups will take place on November 9th, 11th, &12th, from 4pm - 6:30pm at the Pip Moyer Center in Annapolis, MD.

• If you have lots of space to replant, we recommend purchasing 2+ groves. If you are limited in space, we recommend up to 4 single trees. A combination of groves and single trees is encouraged!

Tree Options Anne Arundel County residents

• Single Trees are for those who are only looking to plant a few trees on their property. We will have five species available this season: Black gum, White oak, Atlantic white cedar, Eastern redbud, and Loblolly Pine.

• Pollinator Groves consist of a mix of five understory trees and shrubs to provide food sources for pollinators such as bees, birds, flies, moths, and beetles. This seasons grove includes: Summersweet, American beautyberry, and Eastern redbud.

• Edible Groves consist of a mix of five understory trees to create a native-sourced food grove. This season’s grove includes: Alleghney serviceberry, American plums (or beach, chickasaw).

• Screening Groves consist of evergreen trees and shrubs to provide screening from roads, neighbors, and wind that still provide great wildlife value. This season’s grove includes: Eastern red cedar and Wax myrtle.

• Legacy Groves consist of a mix of large shade trees that can decrease heating/cooling bills, increase property value, and bring tremendous wildlife value via food and shelter to many species like pollinators and birds. This season’s grove includes: Bur oak, Red maple, and Chinkapin oak.

Tree Options for City of Annapolis residents

• Single trees are for those who are only looking to plant a few trees on their property. We will have 4 species available this season: Black gum, River birch, American witch hazel, and American holly.

• Backyard Groves consist of two large shade trees and one small flowering tree, planted to provide food sources for wildlife such as pollinators and birds. This season’s grove includes: American linden and Sweetbay magnolia.

• Street Tree Groves consist of two small flowering trees and 1 large oak tree, providing shade, wildlife value, and beauty to your outdoor spaces. This season’s grove includes: Willow oak and Alleghney serviceberry.
